Toolbar

A row of buttons at the edge of a board: cursor, hand, sticky note, shape, text. The selected tool is highlighted.

Also called: toolbar, tool bar, tools, tool panel, tools panel, cursor and hand, floating toolbar, contextual toolbar, context toolbar, panel above an object, color picker, palette

What it is for

The toolbar shows which mode you’re in: selecting, panning the canvas or drawing. Common tools have keyboard shortcuts. When an object is selected, a second, contextual toolbar appears next to it with settings for that object only: color, font, line thickness.
