Headings and paragraphs
A heading names a page or a section and is set larger than the text around it. A paragraph is the regular text underneath.
Also called: heading, subheading, paragraph, text, title, headline, big text, large text, font, typography, h1, h2
What it is for
People rarely read a screen line by line. They skim, looking for the right spot. Headings tell them what the page is about and where to find the answer to their question. Paragraphs break the text into small chunks, which makes it easier to read.
Where you see it
- Articles and blogs — the article title and the section subheadings
- Landing pages — the big line on the first screen, like “Delivered in 30 minutes”
- Product cards — the product name is usually styled as a heading too
